Julie Iezzi is Professor of Theatre at the University of Hawaii. She will lead a workshop for students on modern approaches to a 600-year old Japanese theater form called kyōgen. Often referred to as a comical theater of words, kyōgen has at its core a variety of musical styles incorporated over centuries, and movement types ranging from the mimetic to the abstract.
