Description | Dr. Wright leads the Chemical Biology & Exposure Sciences Group at PNNL and a group of undergraduate and graduate students in bioengineering at WSU. Dr. Wright’s research group works at the interface of synthetic chemistry, omics, and biology to accomplish research focused on (1) enabling novel chemical biology approaches to personalized medicine; (2) defining the impact of chemical and environmental exposures on mammalian enzyme activities; (3) characterizing the role of the gut microbiome in xenobiotic metabolism; (4) delineating the mechanisms of gut microbiome assembly and fitness to enable targeted therapeutics, probiotics, and diet; (5) drug target identification and validation in microbial pathogens; and (6) determining drug targets, off-targets and opportunities for drug repurposing through chemical probing. |
