In conjunction with the Libraries exhibit, From Albatross to Zigzag Heron: The Year of the Bird at UW Libraries The Bird Walk will take place in the Union Bay Natural Area (UBNA) adjacent to the UW Center for Urban Horticulture. Guides with Seattle Audubon will share some of the history of how the former Montlake Fill has become such an important area for birds as we look for birds inhabiting the UBNA. After the bird walk, Seattle Audubon’s Executive Director, John Brosnan, will give a presentation about urban birds and bird conservation. He will discuss community science bird monitoring projects, environmental education in an urban setting and the importance of creating and preserving habitat for birds in our neighborhoods. Come to learn more about the ways humans and birds co-exist in our urban areas. Light refreshments will be served. - Free and open to the public
