Description | Speaker: Eduan Wilkinson, MD Title: HIV epidemic reconstruction through phylogenetics Eduan Wilkinson currently serves as the group leader for Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at the KwaZulu-Natal Research Innovation and Sequencing Platform (KRISP). Eduan's research interest lies in the use of sequence data to answer public health research questions. His research to date has largely focused on phylogenetics and phylodynamics of HIV and TB, which are two of the biggest health challenges facing his native South Africa. Our bioinformatics group, which is situated at the Nelson R Mandela School of Medicine in Durban, South Africa has a strong focus on a wide range of applications, including RNA-Seq, ATAC-Seq, 16S metagenomics, genome assembly, annotation and comparative genomics. |
