Description | Speaker: Ezzedine C. Fishere, Visiting Professor, Department of Political Science, Dartmouth College, is an acclaimed Egyptian author. He has written seven novels including his iconic Exit, which predicted Egypt post-revolutionary dystopia; and the Embrace on Brooklyn Bridge, short-listed for the Arabic Booker prize in 2011 (released in English in April 2017) a novel that questions identity and its devastating impact on people’s lives. He also writes regularly for the Egyptian press about social and political conditions in the Middle East. He is a former Egyptian diplomat and he worked for the United Nations in Israel, Palestine and in Sudan. He was involved with democratic political groups in Egypt between 2011 and 2014. |
