Anu Asnaani, PhD Assistant Professor in Clinical Psychology, Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine Mechanisms of CBT, Technological Innovations, & Diversity Considerations: Integrating Three Lines of Research in a Global Context Dr. Asnaani’s research focuses on expanding our understanding of emotional disorders, with the eventual goal of informing treatment modifications in the most effective (and innovative) ways for a greater diversity of populations both nationally and internationally. This overarching research interest drives the three major domains of her work: elucidating psychological mechanisms by which emotional symptoms are maintained and treated, the integration of technology into bettering detection and targeting of such symptoms, and the importance of using a cross-cultural and diversity lens for this work. Notably, she has particular interests in investigating these intersecting topics in “real world” community populations in local and global contexts. Findings from a series of studies that combine elements of the scientific study of psychological mechanisms in emotional disorders, technological advances, and implementation with at-risk children in inner city Philadelphia and marginalized adolescent women in Saint Lucia will be described. Future directions for ongoing examination of these constructs will be explored. Q&A and light refreshment following. Dr. Asnaani is a candidate for the Population Health Initiative Joint Hire position in Psychology and Global Health. This lecture is free. No registration needed. |
