At the UW Foster School of Business, we teach and practice leadership every day. Alumni, students, faculty and the greater Foster community have access to local, regional, and world-renowned leaders who shape the way we do business. The Leaders to Legends Breakfast Lecture Series spotlights leaders from various industries. Nancy Zevenbergen founded Zevenbergen Capital Investments (ZCI) in 1987, creating a responsive, research-focused investment firm specializing in concentrated growth equity advisory services. Nancy oversees ZCI’s investment policy and portfolio management decisions, maintaining a strong commitment to original research. The firm manages over $2 billion in assets for public funds, pensions, endowments and individuals alike. Appealing to a broader audience of investors, ZCI recently launched two proprietary mutual funds: Zevenbergen Growth Fund and Zevenbergen Genea Fund. She graduated from the University of Washington, earning a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance in 1981. In addition, she is a CFA charter holder and a member of both the CFA Institute and the CFA Society of Seattle. Nancy began her investment career as a Portfolio Manager and Research Analyst for Rainier National Bank. She was responsible for supervising trust assets for individuals and organizations with diverse investment goals and varying constraints. Outside of ZCI, Nancy serves as a chair of the Investment Committee on the Seattle Pacific Foundation Board of Directors and an Independent Trustee of the Smead Funds Trust. In addition, Nancy is the Treasurer of the Anduin Foundation; the family foundation’s gifts focus on supporting scientific, literary, educational and religious causes in the Pacific Northwest. Both UW graduates, Nancy and her husband, John, have supported the university through ARCS, the UW Rowing Program and the Foster School of Business. In college, I was (or would have been) voted most likely to start my own business.
