Collins Airhihenbuwa is a global expert and a pioneer in centralizing culture in health behaviors. He leads the Global Research Against Non-Communicable Disease (GRAND) initiative at the School of Public Health at Georgia State University. He is also a professor of Health Management & Policy.

Researching culture and race, in the context of health, demands a transdisciplinary approach to examining the complexities of individual and collective behaviors relative to disease burdens that weigh on underrepresented minorities. In this lecture, Airhihenbuwa will frame current public and population health challenges by locating culture and race at the core of structurally determined policies and behaviors for the benefit of advancing research and policy on health equity domestically and globally.
