Description | Interested in creating, adapting or remixing a digital book? Come to this 1-hour workshop and learn about UW Libraries Pressbooks, an easy-to-use e-book authoring platform that can be used to create open educational resources (such as open textbooks), monographs, white papers, course modules, how-to guides, and more. If you’re interested in self-publishing works and would like to be able to apply an open license to your work, export your book in multiple formats (digital and print), and choose from multiple professional templates, Pressbooks may be the tool for you. Open textbooks created in Pressbooks not only allow you to create custom material tailored to your course, they also save students money! This one hour hands-on workshop will provide an overview of the Pressbooks platform, examples of how Pressbooks has been used by educators at other institutions, and a demonstration of interactive elements for highlighting and annotation. Computers are available in this room, but feel free to bring your own laptop to participate in the hands-on portion of the workshop.
