Description | JANICE COOPER, PhD MPA Mental Health Program Liberia, The Carter Center Post-conflict/post-disaster Mental Health in Liberia: Prescription for Building Back Better? Liberia civil wars of the 1990's was followed by a fragile peace. Then the country experienced an Ebola Virus outbreak that led to estimated 10,000 cases and over 5,000 deaths. To address the mental health and psychosocial consequences Ebola outbreak and the pre-Ebola mental health crisis the country followed the WHO strategy to "build back better." This talk discusses how the country used the WHO guidance to expand services, supports and infrastructure in mental health, and the lessons learned. What is next?
