Description | Interested in creating, adapting or remixing a digital book? RSVP for this workshop and learn about UW Libraries Pressbooks, an easy-to-use e-book authoring platform that can be used to create open educational resources (such as open textbooks), monographs, white papers, course modules, how-to guides, and more. If you’re interested in self-publishing works and would like to be able to apply an open license to your work, export your book in multiple formats (digital and print), and choose from multiple professional templates, Pressbooks may be the tool for you. Open textbooks created in Pressbooks not only allow you to create custom material tailored to your course, they also save students money! This hands-on workshop will provide an overview of the Pressbooks platform, examples of how Pressbooks has been used by educators at other institutions, and a demonstration of interactive elements for highlighting and annotation. Note that Summer quarter workshops are a little longer to allow for more time with the platform. Participants are welcome to stay longer for the May 31st workshop, to continue exploring the platform and get additional assistance. - Tuesday, July 9, 10:30 a.m.-12:00p.m.
- Wednesday, August 7, 3:00-4:30 p.m.
