Description | Speaker: Peter Cherutich, MBChB, MPH, PhD Title: Kenya Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (KENPHIA): Methods, Challenges and Policy Implications Dr Peter Cherutich, MBChB, MPH, PhD, a senior deputy director of medical services, is the immediate former Director of Preventive and Promotive Health, Ministry of Health-Kenya.. Previously, he was Head of HIV Prevention at NASCOP where he spearheaded many HIV prevention programmes. His expertise includes leadership in policy development and implementation of strategies for health emergencies, communicable and non-communicable disease control and has been a passionate advocate for high level capacity building at the Ministry of Health. He received his PhD in Implementation Science from the Department of Global Health at the University of Washington partly through Forgaty training support and his dissertation, published in Lancet HIV, provided the essential evidence for the adoption of HIV partner notification services by the World Health Organization. He has mentored several graduate students and post-doctoral fellows specifically at the University of Washington and is currently a honorary lecturer at the University of Nairobi’s School of Infectious and Tropical Diseases.
