Description | Lidwien Kapteijns is the the Elizabeth Kimball Kendall and Elisabeth Hodder Professor of History at Wellesley College. A scholar of African history, literature, and oral tradition, Kapteijns' scholarship includes four monographs, three major source collections, and 62 articles and translations on diverse aspects of the history and culture of East Africa.
