Description | Speaker: Adeel Shah, MBChB, MMED Title: Determinants of type-specific HPV concordance across anatomic sites in young men who have sex with men in Seattle, Los Angeles and Chicago Mr. Adeel Shah, MBChB, MMED is an infectious disease fellow at the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi currently in his second year of training. He previously worked as a consultant with the Task Force for Global Health developing a dossier on seasonal influenza to assist countries in Africa, Asia and Eastern Europe to make evidence-based decisions regarding the introduction of influenza vaccines in their national immunization programme. He has also served as a trainer and course coordinator for the National Advanced HIV Clinical Course (NAHCC), a training course for doctors providing advanced care for HIV-infected patients. Adeel is also a qualified pediatrician with over six-years’ experience in pediatric practice in both the public and private sector. He is the co-author of an article on supporting NITAGs in resource-constrained settings that was recently published in the Vaccine journal. Adeel’s primary mentors are Professor Rachel Winer and Professor Michael Chung and Margaret Madeleine. He will begin his MPH coursework at UW in September 2019. He is currently in his first year of a masters in public health in epidemiology. He hopes to share the skills and knowledge acquired from his time at the UW with his colleagues and students at the Aga Khan University Hospital Nairobi in order to both cultivate and facilitate a culture of research in them. |
