Description | The UW-IT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Community of Practice invites you to join us for a conversation on the topic of Black Lives Matter, where people can share their thoughts in an inclusive, safe space, and offer ideas on what actions can be taken in our professions to promote equity and inclusion and work to dismantle systemic racism. Please submit any questions or topics at https://bit.ly/DEICOP-BLMchat Here’s what you can expect from this 1.5-hour session: At 11:30am, please join us at https://washington.zoom.us/j/8129818843 where we will all meet together for the first 30 minutes, from 11:30am to 12 noon. This portion of the discussion will introduce the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Community of Practice; address what is bringing us all together today; and set ground rules for the discussions. We will also provide a general overview of the UW's existing resources; hiring policies and trainings pertaining to bias; and future actions for UW, UW-IT, and the DEI CoP. At 12 noon, we will break out into several different Zoom rooms, organized into topics based on your suggestions and feedback. (Note that these will be entirely different Zoom rooms, not breakout rooms.) Each room will have facilitators from the DEI CoP. You can join and leave as many of the topical sessions as you like during the next hour. We will take a short break at the half-hour mark, which will also provide an opportunity to switch to a different room at that time. The topical Zoom rooms opening at 12 noon will be:
