The UW-IT Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Community of Practice (DEI CoP) invites you to an interactive session around Accessibility, Usability & Equity in IT Presenter: Karen Morrill-McClure, Computer Systems Administrator, Washington Sea Grant Change how you think and practice accessibility. It doesn’t have to be about avoiding penalties, instead it can be about making everything more usable and more equitable. This session isn’t about the laws but about why you should and how you can add accessibility into everything you do. We’ll cover: - Basic terms
- Models of disability
- Accessibility in terms of usability
- General design guidelines to follow
- How accessibility can lead to equity
- An introduction to Universal Design
