Description | Entrepreneurship and coffee make the perfect brew for a city like Seattle. Perhaps Seattle is one of the only cities in the world where such an innovative idea could find both the financial backing and the consumer interest, and the founders of Atomo! Molecular Coffee know it. With their new 12,000 square foot roastery just blocks away from the Starbucks’ SODO headquarters, their innovative molecular technology uses upcycled ingredients (think sunflower seed husks, watermelon seeds, acacia gum) that would have otherwise gone to waste to reverse engineer a perfectly consistent--and more sustainable--cup of coffee. It is probably no coincidence that our two Atomo! panelists met through the Foster School of Business entrepreneurship ecosystem at exactly the right time. We will speak to Atomo! CEO and founder and MS in Entrepreneurship mentor Andy Kleitsch and Atomo! Marketing Director and MS in Entrepreneurship ’19 alumna Cara LeDuc about how the idea for the company was sparked, the noble principle behind it, and how they raised over 11 million in venture capital funding. As serial entrepreneurs who have been there and done it a couple of times, and who know how to leverage the entrepreneurial resources of the University of Washington, Andy and Cara will also give advice to aspiring and early-stage entrepreneurs participating in the event.
