Description | Electrical Synthesis of Fuels and Feedstocks from CO2 I will discuss progress in seeking to upgrade CO2 into chemicals (such as ethylene and ethylene oxide) and fuels (such as ethanol and propanol). I will touch briefly upon the technoeconomics and the resultant performance goals required of CO2 electrolyzers. I will then discuss strategies towards meeting these targets, such as catalyst design (including heterogeneous catalysts derived from copper, plus those augmented using molecular strategies), as well as systems aspects such as flow cell, membrane, and electrolyte. I will close with unmet needs/research opportunities for the field. |
