Jones is the Director of Occupational Safety and Health for the Laborers' Health and Safety Fund of North America in Washington, DC. He has a B.S. from Brockport State University and Masters Degree in Environmental and Occupational Health Science from Hunter College, City University of New York. Walter has spent more than a decade in the labor movement working on safety and health issues that impact workers. As a safety and health specialist for the LHSFNA, he reviews and develops safety and health programs for signatory contractors, responds to affiliate requests for technical information regarding environmental and occupational safety and health issues and conducts workplace inspections at the request of affiliates to evaluate and make recommendations for controls of hazards in the workplace. He also prepares written comments to OSHA and EPA regarding proposed safety and health legislation that affects the membership and testifies to their efficacy. Walter is a member of the American Public Health Association (APHA) leadership and a member of the American Industrial Hygiene Association (AIHA). About the Breysse Lectureship: The Peter A. Breysse Memorial Lectureship was established by the Breysse family and friends in honor of Peter Breysse, associate professor emeritus in the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, to recognize his dedication to worker and public health. |
