Why Attend this Seminar? 
Cell reprogramming is a promising strategy for autologous generation of new cells that restore tissue function in injury or disease. The goal of my work is to create a universal platform for reprogramming any cell into any other cell. A common method for reprogramming is the addition of one or more transcription factors that confer a new function or identity. My group has developed a hybrid method for direct reprogramming, which uses both activation and silencing of transcription factors with precise timing. Our framework is guided by the integration of genome-wide chromosome conformation, gene expression, and live cell imaging data. I will present our recent work on reprogramming in the setting of acceleration of wound healing. This work highlights the advantages of bringing together techniques from mathematics, biology, and engineering.
