Jesse Barber, Associate Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Boise State University will deliver an Edwards virtual lecture during the animal behavior seminar. The Sensory Ecology of Acoustic Environments The world is noisy. In this talk I will discuss experimental work documenting the costs of both natural and anthropogenic noise exposure for bats, birds, and insects - the small majority that runs the terrestrial world. We will explore these data through the lens of Sensory Ecology. The idea that ecological communities and evolutionary drivers can be understood only through the ears, through the senses, of animals. Q&A following. This lecture is made possible by a generous endowment by the family of Allen L. Edwards. |
