| | Description | Jenny Maki is an IRB Reliance Administrator for the University of Washington Human Subjects Division. She evaluates and approves human subjects research studies occurring at multiple institutions to ensure they comply with federal regulations, local laws, and legal agreements between the institutions. She gets to approve projects spanning the whole portfolio of research occurring at the University of Washington, from education research to novel drug trials. Jenny received a B.A. in Chemistry from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. She got a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry from the University of Washinton after developing an improved protein expression method and analytical technique to study malaria protein interactions. After graduating, she worked as a Research Coordinator and then Project Manager on a clinical research project studying malaria in India. As part of her job managing the multi-site project, she oversaw the protocols to collect, process and store samples and data from malaria patients in India. When she started at the Human Subjects Division in 2017, she started as an IRB Review Administrator before moving to her current position. |
