Dr. Joan Woodard is retired from Sandia National Laboratories where she served in various areas of national security for over 35 years and for ten years as an Executive Vice President and Deputy Laboratories Director.
She is currently a consultant and serves on civic and national boards. At Sandia Dr. Woodard has been the executive leader for all the mission programs of the laboratories including the nuclear weapons program, nonproliferation, military technology and systems, energy, environment and waste management technology, and intelligence, as well as the chief operating officer responsible for all operational areas of the laboratories.
She has served on the Intelligence Science Board, the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board (AF/ SAB), the Army Science Board, on a Defense Science Board Task Force, and the Congressional Commission to Assess the Vulnerabilities of the US Infrastructure to EMP, and on the Secretary of State’s International Security Advisory Board.
Joan Woodard holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Sciences) from the University of California Berkeley; a M.S. in Engineering Economic Systems from Stanford University; and a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from the Missouri University of Science & Technology (magna cum laude). |
