Description | Join the University of Washington's Department of Human Centered Design & Engineering for our 2022 Capstone Showcase. Held annually in June, this event features the final projects developed by teams of HCDE undergraduate and master's students, representing the culmination of skills and knowledge gained in the HCDE program. Student teams dedicate two quarters to solving real-world problems through a human-centered lens. Projects are proposed by industry sponsors or driven by an interest from the students on the team. At the Capstone Showcase a judging panel of HCDE alumni and friends awards teams with cash prizes based on the categories of innovation, research, communication, and design. Projects are grouped into rooms based on the following themes: Entertainment, Play, and Leisure; FinTech; Health; Mapping and Transport; Social and Climate Justice; Technology for Work and for Education; VR / AR / MR View the 2022 project descriptions here » Health & Safety Face coverings are highly recommended at this indoor, in-person event. When wearing a face covering, it is recommended that individuals select a high quality, well-fitted face mask, such as a KF94, KN95, N95 or surgical mask. Extra surgical masks and hand sanitizer will be available in the room. Directions & Parking The HUB is located on central campus. Allen Library is to the west, the Communications Building is to the north, and Stevens Way NE runs along the east side of the HUB. Hall Health and the UW Club are located across Stevens Way NE to the east. Padelford Parking Garage is the nearest parking lot to the HUB. |
