Help make a difference for the environment by collecting data for the Coastal Observation and Seabird Survey Team (COASST). COASST is a citizen science project dedicated to involving volunteers in the collection of high-quality data. Our goal is to assist government agencies and other organizations in making informed management and conservation decisions, and to promote proactive citizen involvement and action. COASST participants collect data on marine debris and beach-cast carcasses of marine birds on a monthly basis, to establish patterns of deposition on North Pacific beaches. We will have a training for each program this weekend: Beached Bird survey training on Saturday July 6th Marine Debris survey training on Sunday July 7th There is no charge to attend a training, but plan to provide a $20 refundable deposit if you would like to take home a COASST kit. Training activities take place indoors. RSVP to coasst@uw.edu or 206-221-6893. If you can’t attend, please check our website at www.coasst.org for additional information on upcoming events and trainings. |
