Description | Speaker: Shaowen Wang, University of Illinois Title: “Data-Intensive Geospatial Understanding in the Era of AI and CyberGIS” Via Zoom: https://washington.zoom.us/j/92707468214 In this talk, Dr. Clare Cannon explores diverse and veritable opportunities feminist theory and methods, including standpoint, intersectionality, and climate feminism, have to offer environmental justice concerns, research, and advocacy. Tracing her own recent research program alongside work of others, Dr. Cannon argues that bringing feminist theory and methods to bare on the most pressing social, environmental and climate injustices can deepen our understanding of how and why these injustices persist and what we can do about it. Every quarter, the School of Environmental and Forest Sciences holds weekly SEFS Seminars with faculty and experts. These seminars provide a space for presentation and discussion of a variety of topics relevant to the school and its students. Each seminar is held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesdays via both in-person presentation in the Forest Club Room and on Zoom. After each presentation, a Q&A discussion will be held. You can watch previous Seminars on the SEFS YouTube channel. |
