Tuesday, Aug 18, 2026, 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.

Are you a researcher funded by a US federal agency and unsure how to make your publications openly accessible? Join us for this one-hour online workshop where we'll break down what the 2022 OSTP Public Access Memo means for your journal articles, walk through requirements from funders like NIH and NSF, and provide guidance on submitting manuscripts to the appropriate repositories. Compliance doesn't have to mean paying enormous article processing charges — but it does require careful attention to journal selection and publisher green open access policies. You'll leave with clear, actionable steps to meet your obligations and maximize the reach of your research.
Using consumer LLMs for qualitative analysis: Possibilities, problems, and ponderings - Online

Monday, Aug 24, 2026, 1 – 2 p.m.

This discussion-based online session will examine the growing role of consumer-facing large language models and similar tools in qualitative research. Together, we will explore the possibilities these technologies present for assisting with qualitative research processes while critically considering their limitations, risks, and ethical implications. Rather than taking a firm stance on these tools, this session aims for a practical and reflective conversation about how researchers are actually encountering and using these tools in their work. This is not an expert-led technical training, but a collaborative space for thinking through questions, uncertainties, and emerging practices together.

This workshop is part of the UW Libraries "Greatest Hits" Summer Workshop Series

Event interval: Single day event
Accessibility Contact: osctech@uw.edu
Event Types: Workshops
Event sponsors: UW Libraries
Target Audience: UW faculty, staff, graduate students, postdocs, undergraduate students
