Description | Pain is nearly ubiquitous in primary care, with an estimated 40% of older adults experiencing some form of chronic pain. The guidelines for providers and the regulations they are expected to follow have become more and more restrictive about the dosing and duration of opioid treatment as the evidence of potential harms has become clearer. At the same time, changes in insurance coverage have brought many more patients into primary care practices who have previously had poor access to care and may still have poor access to specialty care. The Loeser conference series is designed to fill the need for actionable, evidencebased pain care strategies among primary care providers, including physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. |
