| | | Description | The purpose of this educational program is to increase awareness and knowledge of interstitial lung disease and pulmonary fibrosis among general practitioners. Interstitial lung diseases are a heterogeneous group of diseases with over 200 subtypes, a complex classification scheme, and many different causes. In conditions such as Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, the prognosis is poor with a median survival of 3-5 years from the time of diagnosis. Delays in diagnosis are common and associated with worse survival. This program will discuss an approach to interstitial lung disease for primary care providers: when to suspect interstitial lung disease, the diagnostic evaluation, referral to specialists, and initial management. |
