Description | During the first part of the session we will offer information about the program and answer questions. During the rest of the session we will only interview students that have submitted their applications 24 hours before the meeting, including the essay (if the references letters have not yet been submitted, that is okay). If you cannot make it by 5:30, please come as soon as you can (6:00 or a bit later would be okay). This seminar focuses on Public and mental Health in Chile. We spend 7-10 days in three areas, including the capital Santiago, Villarrica and Temuco in the southern lake region, and the southern Chiloe Island. We interact with Mapuche and Huilliche indigenous communities, and learn about their efforts toward maintaining their traditional culture and medical practices. Instruction consists of classroom work and field activities, including visits to remote regions that have modest or infrequent public health services. Housing includes homestays (3-4 nights) with indigenous communities, hotels and cabins. Check the following links for more information: www.psych.uw.edu… studyabroad.washington.edu… |
