| Description | Calling all Harry Potter fans, lovers of Scrumdiddlyumptious Wonka bars and Secret Garden explorers! This Interest Meeting for "Wizards, Whangdoodles & Whizzpoppers: Children's Literature in the UK," will introduce students to what promises to be an amazing learning experience. During this 3 1/2 week excursion to Newcastle, Cambridge and London (with day trips to Scotland and Oxford), participants will gain a deeper understanding of the fascinating historical "roots" of children's and Young Adult books in the UK and will learn how contemporary authors of color have shaped the genre for the 21st Century kids of all ages.
