By today, we recommend having a full, long draft of your statement of grant purpose. It's typical for this draft to be a little too long and for you to still be adding detail and refining. If you have a draft great! Make an appt with and advisor for feedback. If you don't, that's okay! The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans is a $90,000 fellowship for immigrants and children of immigrants going to graduate school in the United States. The application for 2027-2028 is open and due on October 29, 2026 at 2 pm ET.

This information session will go over the background of the Fellowship, the selection criteria, and the application process.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans supports all types of graduate students so you would join a cohort of students from across the country who have a similar drive and passion but are in different fields and disciplines. Alumni include the Surgeon General of the United States Vivek Murthy, AI leader Fei-Fei Li, and leaders in the arts, business, medicine, science, and many other fields.

They are interested in students who are hard-working, creative, willing to ask big questions, and who are looking to make a significant contribution to American society or their academic field.

UW Campus Deadline for DAAD Study Scholarships & Research Grants

Would you like to study, carry out research or learn German in Germany and are you looking for funding? Every year, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) supports well over 100,000 German and international students and researchers around the globe – making it the world's largest funding organisation of its kind.

DAAD scholarships are aimed primarily at bachelor's graduates, doctoral students and postdocs and are awarded for study and research visits to universities and non-university research institutions in Germany. In some programmes, internships are also funded.

Campus Deadline: Priority Nomination
Those applying for graduate study scholarships and standard research grants (for a duration of at least 7 months) are eligible to be considered for UW’s single priority nomination. Per DAAD guidelines, applicants for shorter term research grants may not be considered for priority status.
