Class seri es is four consecutive Saturdays: October 17th\, October 24th\, October 31st\, &\; November 7th\, each session running from 10:00am-12:30pm
Come watercolor quintessential fall botanicals! In this 4-part class\, students will learn and develop the basics of bot anical watercolor painting. Students will learn how to create a harmonio us color palette\, techniques that produce realistic and accurate painti ngs\, an understanding of how light reveals form\, and how to improve th eir observational and visual interpretation skills. Working from both ph otographic references and live specimens\, students will study the uniqu e forms\, textures\, and colors of seasonal botanical subjects. Upon com pletion of the class\, students will leave with finished watercolor pain tings of mushrooms\, leaves\, seed pods\, and fruit specimens\, as well as the confidence to paint other subject matter. Students must provide o wn supplies\; supply list will be provided upon registration.
Ins tructor Robin Bundi is a teacher\, artist\, and designer living in Seatt le\, Washington. She loves to explore the natural world and primarily cr eates work to celebrate the natural world and our connection to it. Robi n’\;s studio practice includes watercolor painting\, drawing\, and making her own watercolors from foraged materials. She has a BFA in Grap hic Design and Art History from Ohio University and certificate in Natur al Science Illustration from The University of Washington. Ghosts and Goblins in a cemetery for Hallowe '\;en? Why not consider lichens as an alternative? Lichens are friend ly and interesting organisms that love to grow on headstones and old tre es. They are harmless to your plants and add aesthetic value to trees an d shrubs. We can actually use them as indicators of air pollution!
Cemeteries can take on new meaning as a fun place to observe a symbiot ic organism made up of fungus and algae. You will also learn about commo n lichens found in an urban environment and take home a user-friendly ch art that lists lichens found in your neighborhood. \;
Instruc tor Katherine Glew\, Ph.D. is Curatorial Associate of Lichens at the Uni versity of Washington Herbarium\, Burke Museum. She manages historic col lections and processes lichens from the Pacific Northwest and Russian Fa r East. In addition to assisting with lichen curation\, her research int erests include alpine lichen community structure on Mount Rainier\, Olym pic National Park\, North Cascades and lichens found on the smaller isla nds in Washington'\;s San Juan Archipelago. Come learn how to make a miniature bog where carnivorous plants can thrive in this wet environment. We will be getting muddy and messy while we make some swam py plant arrangements. This class is for all levels of plant experience! Carnivorous plants are relatively easy to care for with the right light and lots of water. The class will also include instruction on care of b ogs over time so you can watch your bogs grow and thrive! All ages welco me. Class fee covers all necessary supplies.

ass\, students will be introduced to the process of relief printing usin
g a technique known as linocut. Using botanical motifs\, students will l
earn the basics of relief design\, block cutting and inking\, and hand p
rinting techniques. Each student will leave with a series of their own h
and printed cards and a block printing supply starter kit to continue pr
inting at home! Find some inspiration from the season and make some bota
nical-themed \;holiday \;cards for your family and friends.

s an artist and illustrator based in Seattle\, WA. Anneke received degre
es in Biology and Studio Art\, as well as a certificate in Natural Scien

sidencies at the nexus of art and science and is a contributor to Hyldyr
\, a publication company that combines art\, ecology\, and folklore. She
draws on her background in the sciences to create detailed watercolors

extracted from foraged organic matter such as plants and fungi\, and thi
