Description | The SEAxSEA Film Festival is part of the Southeast Asia Center’s mission to actively organize Southeast Asia-related programs, and features films that explore Southeast Asia in its diversity, emphasizing underrepresented communities and youth-produced visions of the past, present, and future. On this, our inaugural year, we are proud to feature two full-length documentaries made by indigenous female filmmakers from Southeast Asia. “War is a Tender Thing” by Adjani Arumpac features the conflict in Mindanao, Philippines, vis-a-vis her own heritage as half-Muslim and half-Christian. “The Peace Agency” by Sue Useem examines the role that a grassroots women’s organization has in maintaining peace and rebuilding Poso, Indonesia. In addition, we are proud to feature many short films from the region, most of them proudly student-made. Please RSVP on our Facebook event and drop by for some free popcorn, drinks, and most of all, great films! |
