Description | Haliehana Stepetin (Unangax) created this performance with collaborators Arlie Neskahi (Dine'), Sara Siestreem (Hanis Coos), Delia Gomez (Yaqui/Mexican), Dustin Newman (Unangax/Deg Hit'an), and Sierra Campbell (Apsaalooke/Mexican) as a capstone project for the Master of Arts in Cultural Studies program at UWB. The theme of the performance is Indigenous resistance through embracing traditional subsistence practices. We invite you all to attend and participate in our post-performance discussion on contemporary Indigenous performance, stories of survival, and ways that we maintain Indigenous identity while evolving as contemporary people. Please come and share your stories and thoughts! This is a potluck, so please bring something to share! Bring your drums and families for sharing songs and dances! |
