As part of Expository Writing Program’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Collaboration Grant, Olivia Hernández, Jacki Fiscus, Emily George, Dana Woodcock, and Sarah Ghasedi will hold a series of five workshops throughout Winter and Spring 2018 that address ethical approaches to teaching personal writing, antiracist assessment, canonical literature, autoethnography, and multimodality. Participants will come away with practical applications for their classrooms and teaching philosophies. This fifth and final workshop in the series will be held on Friday, March 11th, from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM in the Allen Library Research Commons Red Room A. Details below. Workshop Leader: Sarah Ghasedi Title: Autoethnography in the Writing Classroom: Research as Inclusion Location: Allen Library Red Room A Time: Friday, May 11, 11:00-12:30 Description: As part of the “Antiracist Pedagogies Across Disciplines” series, Sarah Ghasedi will lead a workshop that will explore pedagogical approaches to teaching autoethnography in the writing classroom. She will provide an overview of relevant scholarship and share concrete strategies for those interested in employing this research method to enable inclusion. Ghasedi will share sample lesson plans, assignments, and student projects from her own classes, and participants will be invited to brainstorm and discuss ideas for their courses.
