| | Description | Amanda Doxtater is assistant professor of Scandinavian Studies at the University of Washington. She holds a PhD in Scandinavian with a Designated Emphasis in Film from UC Berkeley. Her current book project, Melodramatic Encounters: Pathos and Embodiment in the Work of Carl Th. Dreyer examines connections between film melodrama and art cinema in Scandinavia through Dreyer's various innovations of the melodramatic mode. Her research interests include: melodrama and performance theory, Scandinavian theater, gender and representation, queer poetics and translation studies. |
