Description | Please join us for a workshop with Lindsay Hamilton to hear about her latest project on milk, and discuss the challenges and possibilities of more-than-human ethnography. This workshop will leave plenty of time for discussion and anyone interested in more-than-human methods and/or human-animal relations is encouraged to attend. BIO: Lindsay Hamilton is an organisation scholar who specialises in the study of human-animal relationships at work. Her first book (with Nik Taylor), Animals at Work was an ethnography of a variety of businesses including farms, slaughterhouses, veterinary practices and rescue shelters. Her second book, Ethnography After Humanism, took a different tack and developed new ideas about multispecies methods and suggested how ethnography - a technique already well suited to advocating for the underdog - might evolve to take better note of other than human life. She has published on the theme of humans, animals and business in a variety of journals including Sociology, Organization, New Technology, Work and Employment and Culture and Organization. She is currently researching the subject of dairy farming and particularly the new food market for raw milk. |
