Description | The Textual Studies Program is pleased to announce that Matthew Kirschenbaum (University of Maryland) will lead a Digital Dialogue on Thursday, Feb. 28, at 3:30pm in the Petersen Room in Allen Library. For this informal discussion, we’ll be workshopping a draft chapter of Prof. Kirschenbaum's current book project on the contested meaning of the term “archive,” digital and otherwise. All are welcome, but please RSVP to text@uw.edu if you would like to participate. We will send out a PDF of the chapter in early Feb. Matthew Kirschenbaum is Professor of English and Digital Studies at the University of Maryland, a member of the teaching faculty at the University of Virginia’s Rare Book School, and former Associate Director of the Maryland Institute for Technology in the Humanities. His first book, Mechanisms: New Media and the Forensic Imagination (MIT, 2008) won the annual Prize for a First Book from the MLA. His second book, Track Changes: A Literary History of Word Processing, was published by Harvard University Press in 2016. His current book project, Bitstreams: The Future of the Digital Literary Heritage, is based on the A.S.W. Rosenbach Lectures on Bibliography he delivered at the University of Pennsylvania in 2016 and is under contract with Penn Press. |
