Furness III is a Professor of Industrial & Systems Engineering in the College of Engineering as well as the founder of the Human Interface Technology Laboratory (HITLab), which started at the University of Washington and now has sister labs at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, and the University of Tasmania, Australia. He is also affiliated with the UW Reality Lab Studio. Known for his pioneering work and contributions in developing human interface technology, he has earned the title "Grandfather of Virtual Reality."Furness will give a presentation that supports creative approaches to the enormous potential of virtual reality. He will discuss what we can look forward to in expanding our human potential with emerging virtual reality tools and content.
