Description | In his presentation, visual artist Yeggy Michael will reflect on how the experience of migration has shaped his art and identity. Forced movement from one place to another, from what we know to what we don't, brings with it the displacement of our bodies, minds, and hearts. This presentation thus raises questions about how an immigrant's multiple transitions -- economic, political, cultural, and spiritual -- can ultimately serve as a foundation for dialogue. Yeggy Michael is a Seattle-based public art visual artist, whose work now hangs in numerous galleries, cafes, and homes throughout the region and beyond. In addition to his studio work (www.yeggistudio.com), he serves as Art Programs Director at the Nature Consortium of the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association and co-director of the annual Arts in Nature Festival. |
