Description | Potential career opportunities in international development - Conversation with Katja Kammerer Katja Kammerer is Director of the Division for Commissioning Parties at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), which coordinates institutional relationship with German Public Sector Commissioners, the European Union, International Donors, Private Sector Partners and the Green Climate Fund. After studying social sciences, international relations and economics in Germany, Russia, the United States, France and Italy, she started her career at the World Economic Forum in Geneva / Switzerland where she was developing content and coordinated activities for the Annual Meeting in Davos. She then joined the biggest German Trade Fair company Messe Frankfurt and worked intensively on European Affairs i.e. in the context of the European Major Exhibition Centres Association (EMECA). With this strong background in economic development, trade and the private sector, she moved to international development cooperation where she advised on portfolio development in Afghanistan, set up a regional office in Latin America for GIZ International Services and led an internal strategy project developing GIZs corporate strategy for 2017 – 2019 at GIZ-Headquarters in Germany. She was then appointed GIZ-Programme Director in Tbilisi, Georgia, where she headed the regional Programme on Private Sector Development and TVET with German and EU funding. She also acted as coordinator for Federal German Development Cooperation in the area of Private Sector Development and TVET in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
