Description | The Minoritarian Performance Research Cluster (MPRC) invites current UW community members, and scholars/artists in the greater Seattle-area to our fall 2022 Meet and Greet to make connections, and learn about upcoming performances, talks, and events. RSVPs are encouraged but not required. Feel free to share with the greater community, and RSVP at https://bit.ly/mprc-dec1. The Minoritarian Performance Research Cluster (MPRC) centers scholarly, artistic, and pedagogical investigations into minoritarian performance to counter the ongoing devaluing of minoritized knowledge – especially two years after the so-called “racial reckoning” of 2020 – as well as the ways in which embodied and minoritized knowledge production (including Indigenous, Black, Latinx, Asian Diasporic, Queer of Color, Trans, and Decolonial) are often excluded from academic archives. The cluster’s name draws from José Esteban Muñoz’s theorizations of minoritarian performance to “transport us across symbolic space, inserting us in a coterminous time when we witness new formations within the present and the future.” |
