The National Museum of Natural History and the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative (GoMRI) invite you to the world premiere of a Marilyn and Hal Weiner documentary Dispatches from the Gulf 3: Ten Years After the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill narrated by Matt Damon. Presented as part of the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation's Capital, Dispatches 3 explores the last decade since the 2010 Deepwater Horizon disaster to answer the question: has the Gulf of Mexico recovered? A Q&A after the screening, moderated by Kirk Johnson, Sant Director of the National Museum of Natural History, will highlight the current state of the Gulf and GoMRI’s ten year independent research program to better understand the impacts of the spill and the solutions to restore wildlife and the ecosystem. Opening remarks by the filmmakers Marilyn and Hal Weiner, and Rita Colwell, Former Director of the National Science Foundation and Chair of the Gulf of Mexico Research Initiative Research Board.
