Details | Did you know that sulfur is present in many forms on Earth, in minerals, fluids and even magmas? Come talk with Michelle Muth, Geologist from the University of Oregon. Ask her how sulfur travels from the Earth’s mantle up through the crust into volcanoes. Michelle works in the lab and the field collecting and analyzing the chemical composition of volcanic rocks from volcanic eruptions. This information helps her understand where the sulfur is coming from, how ore deposits are formed, what is the effect of volcanic eruptions on global climate, and how magmas form and evolve beneath volcanoes. Access services such as American Sign Language interpretation, real-time captioning (CART), or audio description are available with two-weeks advanced notice.
