Join the National Portrait Gallery for a close look at portraits from the Harmon Foundation Collection. The portraits were part of an attempt in the 1940s and 1950s to counter racist stereotypes and racial prejudice through portraiture and premiered at the Smithsonian Institution in 1944. We’ll discuss the history of these portraits, the people represented, and how to use these images in your classroom. This workshop is intended for classroom teachers. The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants 24- 48 hours in advance of the program. Please only register for yourself. We will only be allowing participants into the meeting if their name (and email address) is on the registration list. The Portrait Gallery strives to provide programs that are accessible to all visitors. For questions, or to request accommodations such as an ASL interpreter or captioning, please email NPGAccess@si.edu. |
