| | Details | Get a glimpse of some un-ZOO-sual careers at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. Join us on the first Friday of every month as we meet the faces behind saving species and explore a variety of unique careers available in science, technology, engineering, art and math.
Tune in this month to meet Jessica, a Licensed Veterinary Technician at the Smithsonian's National Zoo and Conservation Biology Institute. As a Zoo Veterinary Technician, Jessica provides medical care and treatment for all the Zoo's animals. She ensures the health and well-being of our mammals, birds, aquatic species, reptiles, and some invertebrates by assisting with surgical procedures and exams, administering medications, monitoring health vital signs, and more.
