Nordic Women in Film is a five-week series of free digital film screenings and conversations, where bold, creative, and distinctive female voices are examined, amplified, and celebrated. In partnership with the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, Week Five of the series focuses on “Borders & Boundaries.” In Ísold Uggadóttir’s 2018 film And Breathe Normally, two women’s lives intersect while trapped in unforeseen circumstances. Between a struggling Icelandic mother and an asylum seeker from Guinea-Bissau, a delicate bond will form as both strategize to get their lives back on track.
