Details | The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and Smithsonian Folkways are pleased to launch The Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap. The first-of-its-kind multimedia collection chronicles the growth of the music and culture from the parks of the Bronx to solidifying a reach that spans the globe. On August 17, the anthology’s producer/editor Dwandalyn Reece, NMAAHC Associate Director of Curatorial Affairs will moderate an esteemed panel of scholars and contributors to the anthology including Chuck D, co-founder of Public Enemy; Bill Adler, journalist and critic; Adam Bradley, professor of English and the founding director of the Laboratory for Race & Popular Culture (RAP Lab) at UCLA; Simone Bowden, photographer and author of Time Served on Death Row Records; and Regina Bradley, assistant professor of English and African diaspora studies at Kennesaw State University.
