Details | On the eve of her retirement, join curator Alcione Amos and senior curator Samir Meghelli for a conversation about Ms. Amos’s career at the Anacostia Community Museum (ACM) as she reflects on the work of researching, writing, and curating community history across centuries and borders. During her time at ACM, Alcione Amos has given innumerable lectures, collaborated on public programs, curated three exhibitions—Word, Shout, Song: Lorenzo Dow Turner Connecting Communities (2010), How the Civil War Changed Washington (2015), and the recently launched We Shall Not Be Moved: Stories of Struggle from Barry Farm-Hillsdale (2022)—and authored the book on which the latter was based, Barry Farm–Hillsdale in Anacostia: A Historic African American Community (History Press, 2021). |
